Have just been reading some of your blog and it has been like reading about my own life over the last few months – broke my ankle in 3 places and snapped the ligments around it too on the 21st March. After 2 operations since then only just started walking in my ‘moon boot’ in the last few days and goodness it is painful!
Reading blogs like yours has kept me entertained so thank you so much! Although had to go back to work at the beginning of May which has been exhausting and has not left me nearly enough time with some good books and box sets – like you am normally really active so it was very hard sitting on my bum for such a long time!
Just wanted to say thanks for sharing your experience – sometimes this has been so lonely and seeing that you have such similar experiences helps.
Hi Adam,
I ruptured my Achilles while playing football tennis on holiday in Italy just over a week ago. I’m a fit active 61 but i should have known my football days were well and truly over, they are now!!.
I found you description of how it happened very interesting as I more or less thought the same thing. I actually felt like someone had thrown a rock, I turned around in mid air as I was falling, of course like you no one was there, I ended up cracking a rib in the process as well as grazes to elbow, knee and shoulder. To cut a long story short I have been put in a cast after having the ultra sound. I have to wait for it to heal naturally, I would have preferred the op but age was against me and the fact I take warfarin for irregular heart beat.
Thanks for sharing your experience, it was interesting to read and gives people like me an insight as to what to expect over the next year.
Hi Adam:
I just saw your website for the first time – very cool, very helpful. I injured both my Achilles years ago, and found that there wasn’t a web site with actual medical and scientific research on Achilles tendon injury causes and treatment, so I created one and have been keeping it up to date: http://www.AchillesTendon.com. You and your readers may find it helpful.
Continued good luck with your recovery!

Hi Ellie,
That sounds really painful. Hope that things are getting better for you?

Hi Adam,
Just found your website. Snapped my Achilies last Tuesday and had the op a week ago today.
I found your blog very interesting in letting me know what I’m in for in the coming months.
Cheers!
